how big are the fuel lines?

They were big enough to consume 5 million lb of LOX/kerosene in 150
seconds! That is for all 5 engines.

And is that 1mm in dia? One cm? One meter?

that one really show the size of that thing!

In fact, it understates the size -- there is some foreshortening, because
Von Braun is leaning on a handrail post and is significantly closer to the
camera than the nearest engine. If he was standing *in* the engine bell,
his head wouldn't even reach the centerline.

I guess what kind of blows me away is the command module nearly fits
inside
one engine bell.

Now that I think about it, didnt Werner design the smallest & largest
rocket
that took men into space?

Of course, the fun part is saying I can drive over to KSC Visitor Center
and see the real thing hanging a couple of feet over my head.

There's also an F-1 sitting out in the rocket park. The retired SSME
looks like a toy after that.

It's like the "space is REALLY big" bit in Hitchhiker's, you can't
really describe it or imagine it until you actually see it.

Each engine had two 12-inch fuel lines and one 17-inch LOX line all to
itself.

Yea, that WILL do the job....

(I worked on a 18" pipeline; it carried a lot of gasoline/Kero etc; but
not by comparison with the flow rates discussed here....)

According my PDF of the SA503 Flight Manual (MSFC-MAN-503) there's 2
12-inch RP-1 lines on either side of the LOX line. It doesn't mention
the size of the LOX line, but in the "F-1 Engine Major Components"
drawing the LOX inlet looks to be slightly larger, maybe 15 inches?

Do you happen to have the cite for the LOX line? I looked all over the
place and couldn't find it. Just curious, so don't spend any effort.

Oddly, the SA-503 Saturn V Flight Manual has dimensions of the fuel lines
but not the LOX line, and the Saturn V News Reference reprinted in
Apogee's "Saturn" book has the LOX line but not the fuel lines.
