That's not space-related. That's just weird. That may have been painted
by some old Indian at the peak of his peyote vision quest.

...On the contrary. Look who did the art.

Whoa, get outta here.

That just seems to make it weirder somehow.

Oh, f'cripesake. Here, the Earth is about to be engulfed and consumed by
some hostile alien energy-life, and all our best and brightest can think
is "Save the pens! SAVE THE PENS!"

...Yeah, but what's really interesting is the launch point. Note the
location *and* the direction of launch.

Looks like a nearly-polar orbit launching from...what, northern
Louisiana? Kentucky? Arkansas, maybe?

I've always loved the little traffic light found on the Atlas pads.

Wasn't something very much like this actually proposed a time or two,
except without the calliope rocket launchers on the tail?

Something pretty much *exactly* like this was proposed, including the
bank of engines on the tail, by, IIRC, Rolls Royce. A boatload more
lift jets in the fuselage. Mach 2 transatlantic SST.

Well, all the foliage on the planet has already turned red, so we're
probably toast anyway :)

Looks too far East to be Arkansas. If it isn't Northern Louisiana it
might be Western Tennesee or SouthWestern Kentucky. Perhaps they were
launched with a mixure of LOX and Moonshine...

It actually looks to be around Huntsville, Alabama.

kit that I'd seen yea...er...decades ago that looked almost identical
to it! But you're right, it was the Mars Snooper!
